LEADERSHIP

Leadership

Heritage Christian Academy provides the opportunity for junior and high school students to learn how to lead by participating in our Student Government. Student Government offers students the opportunity to practice leadership amongst their peers. Members bring student voices to the administration, organize and lead school events such as the National Day of Prayer, plan Banquet, and set the tone and the agenda for the government that year. For example, in 2019 students voted to establish a news crew that brings announcements to the whole school every morning. Each year members take a trip to tour the capital where they have an opportunity to meet their state and local representatives. Members also get to attend the annual AACS Student Leadership Conference. Student Government gives all students the experience of voting and the ability to communicate with their representatives to exercise self rule.

Our purpose is to assist our students in becoming leaders in the manner of our Savior: to lead by serving others. We believe that the conference has great potential to impact the hearts of our students. Much of what we learn about leadership in our world comes from sources with a wrong, worldly philosophy. We are besieged by the idea that in order to be a leader we need to run over those who are weaker than we. We at HCA disagree with that philosophy and want our students to be exposed to a correct philosophy – that the Christ-honoring leader leads by serving.
