WHY HERITAGE

Emily Zeigler • Former Student

When I graduated in 2010 the school was called Emmanuel Baptist Christian Academy. I went there from kindergarten until 12th grade. As a young child and then middle schooler I did not appreciate how special being in a school like Emmanuel (Heritage) was. As I got older my outlook began to change and my appreciation grew. Emmanuel (Heritage) has always been a small school, but in the setting of our small school we were still given many beneficial opportunities!

It allows for more one on one and personal relationship building with the teachers and staff, it offers many different options for extracurricular activities that allowed you to be involved in as much or as little as you wanted, for instance, I had the opportunity to be involved in volleyball, basketball, handbells, choir, play productions, art and piano many of which I am still involved in or using personally to this day, but most importantly it gave us Bible centered rules, curriculum and staff. Granted, I did not like or appreciate those rules for many of the years I was there but again as I got older and more mature I came to appreciate those as well.

Those rules were cultivating ethical habits of treating others with respect and kindness, modesty, appreciating our countries heritage and freedoms, prayer, friendliness, hard work and striving to always do and give your best in anything you're doing.

It really did help to mold and shape me into the person I am today and alot of that had to do with the Christ-centered, Biblical focus and the involvement of the church as well. I do not want to know who I would be without the school, youth group and church at Emmanuel Baptist. It truly was a blessing and an opportunity for which I will always be thankful!

Janet Scott • Parent

Heritage Christian Academy is a wonderful school. We transferred our children in 2015 and this has been the best decision we made. The school atmosphere is one of encouragement and the love for Christ is shown through the administration and faculty. Our children have not only grown academically but also spiritually.

Melody Graeff • Former Teacher

Working at Heritage Christian Academy allowed me to have interaction with the students on a one-to-one basis.  I enjoyed doing hands-on S.T.E.M. activities and laboratory experiments with them.  I found the students to be spiritually minded with a desire to do what is right.  They genuinely care for their peers and do not engage in bullying.  I enjoyed being able to integrate scriptural principles with each of the classes I taught.  If you’re looking for an intimate setting with values aligned to those found in Scripture, then take a closer look at Heritage!

Tim Kile • Graduate/Music Pastor

I graduated from EBCA (now HCA) in 2013. I can't speak highly enough of the 13 years I spent there, beginning in K5. The teachers were fantastic, many of which I still remain in touch with today. The student body was very friendly. I was constantly surrounded by positive peer pressure, which had a big impact on my life. The opportunities I had were unique, though I did not know it at the time. I was able to play basketball and soccer for six years. I was also able to participate in numerous musical competitions, which was my passion. Not only was I able to be part of all of the KCEA festivals and competitions, but I was also able to participate in PMEA, which of course allowed me to compete and interact with public schools students. I really do not think I could have gained a similar experience anywhere else.

Not only does HCA afford all of these opportunities, but they train and push students to high levels of excellency. Our basketball team won 3 championships out of the 5 years I competed at the varsity level. Once, we were able to attend the BJU invitational. Many of our students did well at KCEA music competitions, but both I and a classmate made it to states in PMEA band, which includes only a very elite group of high school musicians from public and private schools all across the state.

Academics were always a priority both to the school administration and sports coaching staff. However, the most important priority, which was integrated into every aspect of my experience at HCA, was my walk with the Lord. We had chapel on a weekly basis and Bible class daily. Our teachers lived the gospel and the student body atmosphere steered me to Christ. I'm so thankful my parents were willing to invest so much time and money to put me through school at HCA.

Scott Drinkwater • Graduate/Current Pastor

I have had the privilege of coaching basketball and speaking here in recent years, and I am impressed with the quality of the extracurricular programs and education offered at HCA. It gives me great pride to call myself a graduate of Heritage Christian Academy.

Andrew Black • Graduate/College Student

HCA has not only pushed me to be academically prepared for the future, but relationally and spiritually as well.  The friends that I have made during my time there are friendships that I can expect to last a lifetime and each teacher was ready and willing to pour their own time, their love, and their energy into seeing me succeed not only as a student but as a Christian individual.  My entire experience at HCA is one that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Jeff Allen • Graduate/Deacon in a church

HCA (previously known as EBCA) was a great experience and uplifting environment to learn and grow in book knowledge and Godliness.  I made many lifelong friends during my years at EBCA.  The teachers had a profound impact and influence in my life.  The school prepared me for college and for life.
